Lab 3 Notes Descriptive Statistics for Different Levels of Measurement
Note: "X" indicates that the statistic is appropriate; "--" indicates that the statistic is allowable, but not generally regarded as very useful. Producing Descriptive Statistics and PlotsClick Statistics > Summarize > Explore... Then select one or more variables from the variable list and move to the Dependent List field by clicking the right arrow button. To obtain both descriptive statistics and plots, make sure to select Both in the Display field. You can change the default statistics and plots by clicking on Statistics... or Plots... For our purposes, you do not have to make any changes here, but note that you can request a histogram in addition to the boxplot and stem-and-leaf plot. Another Way to Get Descriptive StatisticsChoose Statistics > Summarize > Descriptives... Select one or more variables from the variable list and move to the Variable(s). Then choose desired statistics from the Options... dialog box.
